Judging by the fact that most diets end up in failure, one might assume that there's something wrong with diets. Well, the problem is actually with the results people get. Or the lack thereof, more specifically. With a few easy steps, however, you can begin to witness quick results.
To lose weight quickly and easily, you have to be motivated. Do you know what motivates you? Perhaps it's staving off diabetes or heart disease. Maybe it's being around for your child's graduation. Maybe it's trying to land a hot date. Whatever it is, find it!
An easy way to lose weight is to make sure that your goals are realistic. For example, if it's March 25, set a goal that you want to lose 10 pounds by April 25. That's an easy goal that, when you reach it, will motivate you to set more goals.
The easiest way to determine your calorie needs is to take stock of whatever you're eating on a daily basis. Eat as you normally would and figure out an average. Now, obviously, if you're overweight, you're eating too many calories. So slash this number by 1/3.
Nothing could be easier than reading the nutritional info on what you're eating. If you buy a box of brownies, you have to read the instructions (no, do not buy brownies!). So if you can do that, you can read the nutritional value of that lean microwave meal.
Small items, like carb and fat-loaded items, pack in the calories in a big way. Identify what they are so that you can eliminate them from your life altogether. You need to get rid of these items for good.
You will need to figure out a way to count the calories you're burning. Exercise bikes and treadmills are great for this. But for every calorie over your determined need, you need to burn it off.
There is nothing wrong with feeling hunger. That's just your stomach signaling to your brain that it's empty. And half the time it's not on E; that's to say that it's not completely bereft of food. It's just not working at capacity. Trust that you can survive like this for a few hours!
When eating a meal, it helps if you drink a large glass of water (the entire thing) to make yourself feel full. Your stomach will expand with the water and if you're eating slowly your brain will receive signals that you've eaten enough.
Any discomfort you feel for hunger pangs or those sore muscles from exercising are only temporary feelings. They will quickly pass. Before long, you won't even notice them. You won't have to sacrifice anything but your comfort level.
If you've stuck well to a diet for a week, then spoil yourself with a small candy bar or a couple slices of pizza. Remind yourself that you can still enjoy the finer things in life as long as you're enjoying them in moderation.
If you can successfully implement these tips, you should have no trouble at all shedding those stubborn pounds. Any big results are going to take a while to achieve, but starting out with the basic stuff above, you can begin to experience fast results by making a few necessary changes.
